About

I'm Nicky Edwards, a Physiotherapist with a specialist interest in perimenopause and female specific training and nutrition.

I'm a keen runner and Mum to my amazing 12yr old daughter and 6yr old son. My favourite running buddy is Cheyne, my beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer. I founded my bricks and mortar business, Chiltern Physiotherapy, a Physiotherapy and Pilates Clinic, in 2008.

A few years ago when I turned 40, it dawned on me that I was entering a new chapter in my life and menopause was looming. Sadly menopause continues to be a taboo subject and although things are improving as more celebrities are talking about it in public there continues to be a lack of information, education and support for women in the years leading up to and following menopause. There is also a huge push towards HRT in the UK and very little accurate, science backed information about how you can utilise exercise and nutrition to not only improve your symptoms during perimenopause and beyond, but also your long term health and wellbeing.

This is something that I am passionate about changing. I want ALL women to know about menopause, how it may impact them, and what they can do to help themselves.

Being estranged from my mother, I have absolutely no life experience to drawn upon. I have no idea what age she went through the menopause or what symptoms she had. If I had not discovered a passion for this topic I would be blindly heading towards menopause absolutely clueless! I do not want this for myself, or anyone else. Hence my passion to educate as many people as I possibly can.

As someone who started running later in life, I know the struggles faced when starting out. I've started running after 2 major hip operations and a very difficult pregnancy. The first time I went for a run I only made it to the end of the street before bursting into tears and walking home.

I know how hard and painful it is to get started. I know how frustrating it is that “life” gets in the way. But you can over come these obstacles. I've gone from not being able to run further than the end of my street to running marathons in London and New York. That is why I am passionate about helping other women start, and stay on track, with their running journey.

I help Women age 40+ Run Faster, Further & Stronger and Stay Injury Free by Training in Harmony with their Female Physiology to surpass their running goals. We lead crazy busy lives, so I teach women to train SMARTER not Harder and still SMASH their goals!
